The Mentoring Cell of Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies, NOIDA, in collaboration with the Quality Improvement Cell (QIC) and Symbiosis Centre for Emotional Wellbeing(SCEW), conducted classroom orientation on the 14th, 17th, 18th, 25th, 28th, and 29th of August, 2023. These sessions aimed at providing a safe and engaging environment for self-discovery while emphasizing the significance of emotional well-being and fostering a positive mindset.
Ms. Aakriti Chaudhary, a skilled counseling psychologist with three years of committed practice, directed the session's course. She was skilled in Habit Coaching, Rational Emotional Behaviour Therapy (REBT), and Narrative Therapy for Victims of Trauma and Abuse, which improved her understanding of the complexities of the human psyche.
Beginning with a series of ice-breaker exercises, Ms. Aakriti created a welcoming and supportive environment by encouraging the students to interact naturally. This was swiftly followed by an honest discussion addressing the common mental health issues that college students frequently face. This proactive conversation served as the basis for the investigation of the complex idea of self-worth and its staggering effect on mental equilibrium that followed.
The detailed analysis of interpersonal dynamics and their crucial function in maintaining emotional stability was a key aspect of the session. Ms. Aakriti skillfully negotiated stress management strategies as the discussion progressed, offering helpful suggestions and coping mechanisms. The identification of stress indicators and the potential effects of unresolved stressors were topics of lively discussion among the students. The discussion naturally transitioned to the crucial topic of self-care, where students were given practical, adaptable self-care routines that were tailored to their daily lives.
The sessions' transformative power also included fostering motivation and resilience in the face of challenges. Participants were informed of a helpline number, which is a valuable resource that those seeking assistance have acknowledged, to help with immediate support. The session ended with a sincere invitation to students to sign up for SCEW's services, a programme designed to encourage them to be proactive about asking for help when they need it. A review of the participant feedback conducted later revealed a common attitude of optimism. Participants reported feeling more liberated when talking about their feelings and overcoming their own obstacles. Attendees appreciated the interactive format of the session and found the practical advice provided to be especially helpful.
The "Embrace Your Emotions" seminar ultimately succeeded in fostering open and unfiltered dialogue, emphasizing the importance of emotional health, and creating a supportive environment for the student community. These seminars are expected to have good knock-on consequences that will foster a culture of emotional intelligence and all-around wellbeing among the student body.
