The Literary Club of SCMS NOIDA organized its very own mega Intra-debate competition which was titled as SYMCHARCHA '2020 on 24th October 2020 at 9:30 am. SYMCHARCHA’2020 has been a fragment of SCMS for the past 5 years. Every year, this enthralling event caters to young minds interested in learning and improving their knowledge through debate and deliberation. It takes forth the legacy which started 5 years ago. The motto of the event was #MakeThePodiumYourThrone. There were 32 participants in the event, and to judge their performances, there were five judges. All five judges were from the third year. Dr. (Prof.) K.P. Venugopala Rao, Director, SCMS NOIDA presided over the event as the Chief guest. He accentuated the importance of debate and deliberation and he wished good luck to each participant.
The Opening Ceremony started at 9:30 am sharp, with an introduction to the event. A lamp was lit to commence with the event. Opening remarks were made by Dr. Shikha Singh, who is the Head & Faculty In-charge of the Student Affairs Council. A brief overview of the event was also given by Mr. Narendra Singh, Faculty-in-Charge, SYMCHARCHA, followed by two brief speeches by the spokesperson of the event. The event started after instructions and rules were stated. The debate commenced at 10:30 am and was held in three rounds. Each round lasted for 30 minutes. It also offered preparation time to its participants. After Round 3, there was a break (for one-hour from 1 pm-2 pm), during which the Organizing Committee calculated the tabs.
After the break, there were three more rounds that were quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals. They all happened for a specific time period. The participants were provided with motion release and preparation time between the rounds. After the finals, the result was announced in the closing ceremony from 5:00-5:30 pm and the name of the winner was declared. In the end, a feedback session was held where participants were asked to give their opinions regarding the event.
