The Institute Social Responsibility Cell (ISR), in collaboration with the International Cell and the Quality Improvement Cell (QIC) of SCMS NOIDA, organized an impactful event at the Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies (SCMS) NOIDA on September 24, 2024. This event was held in partnership with the Chhanv Foundation, which supports acid attack survivors, and A Sisterhood, a UK-based organization dedicated to empowering and protecting women worldwide.

Aligned with the vision of fostering inclusivity and social responsibility, the event featured distinguished speakers, including transgender activist Ms. Devika Mangalmukhi, Mr. Alok Dixit from the Chhanv Foundation, Ms Richa Mohan from the NGO Empowering Minds and representatives from the A Sisterhood and Miss Universe Great Britain teams.

A key highlight of the event was an engaging workshop titled "Redefining Gender Narratives and Shaping Self-Esteem" followed by a ramp walk. This workshop focused on promoting gender equality, empowerment, and challenging stereotypes. It was thoughtfully aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 5: Gender Equality, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, and SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals).

Fly Beyond Challenges: UDAAN's Mission to Empower Survivors at Symaroh

The Institute Social Responsibility Cell (ISR), in collaboration with the International Cell and the Quality Improvement Cell (QIC) of SCMS NOIDA, organized an impactful event at the Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies (SCMS) NOIDA on September 24, 2024. This event was held in partnership with the Chhanv Foundation, which supports acid attack survivors, and A Sisterhood, a UK-based organization dedicated to empowering and protecting women worldwide.

Udaan is an initiative in collaboration with Chhanv Foundation to empower the acid attack survivors. Under this collaboration, SCMS NOIDA extends its support to Chhanv Foundation which is an NGO aiming at empowering acid attack survivors. Chhanv Foundation is committed to aiding acid attack survivors through holistic support, encompassing medical, legal, educational, and employment assistance. By advocating for survivors' rights, the foundation endeavors to overcome societal challenges and facilitate their integration into mainstream society. As part of its efforts, Chhanv Foundation operates Café Sheroes Hangout in Agra and Lucknow, which offers survivors employment opportunities and a supportive environment for social interaction, contributing significantly to their empowerment and rehabilitation.

Under the UDAAN initiative, SCMS NOIDA approached Chhanv Foundation inviting them to set up a stall of Sheroes Café free of charge during the annual fest Symaroh scheduled on 21st-22nd March, 2024. A team of survivors came to SCMS campus to set up the stall. Approximate footfall in these two days was around 500(per day). The events in the festival were planned from 9am -8pm and students from various reputed colleges, universities and institutes across Delhi-NCR participated in these two days-long Fest and the stall was successfully operated throughout the event achieving commendable engagement and financial gains.

This collaboration was a privilege for SCMS NOIDA as it provided an opportunity to raise awareness about the challenges faced by acid attack survivors while empowering them financially. Moreover, it created a platform for survivors to integrate with the mainstream community, fostering meaningful connections and camaraderie between the campus students and the survivors.

ISR Cell of SCMS NOIDA is embarking on a remarkable initiative called "STREE: With Every Step She Takes, She Claims Her Sky" to commemorate Women's History Month. This initiative, dedicated to celebrating womanhood is launched on 7th March, 2024 through a short play by "KIRDAAR," the drama society of SCMS NOIDA. This event highlighted the challenges and honour the resilience, achievements of women across cultures, eras, and continents.
